QUIT CLAPPING! LET ME TALK!!!

I've read a lot of talk wondering why the hell McCain kept clamoring through the last 60 seconds of his speech last night. As you recall, for the first time all night he ignored applause and kept powering through his words.

"I'm going to fight for my cause every day as your President. I'm going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I'm an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach. Fight with me. Fight with me.

Fight for what's right for our country.

Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

Fight for our children's future.

Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.

Stand up for each other; for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We're Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history."
Yep. It was a little hard to hear each word and phrase with the throngs of poorly dressed and relatively unattractive conservatives screaming their approval. So why not break for applause?

Easy. It's going to be a commercial.

If McCain had paused for the applause to die down it would have lessened the enthusiasm and drained the energy. It also would make it pretty damn hard to edit it all down to a 60 second ad.

Add some music, turn up the levels on his mic a bit and you'll be seeing a well crafted commercial in no time.
