So, when he tries to talk about how his plans are going to work, he usually doesn't know what he's talking about, and ends up saying something that just isn't so. Like, for instance, back in 2009, when he was touting his stimulus plan at a Caterpillar plant. He said during a speech that CEO Jim Owens had told him that if they pass the stimulus bill, that Caterpillar would be able to hire back a lot of the folks who were laid off. Owens, however, contradicted him and said that wasn't the case at all.
EAST PEORIA, ILL. -- President Obama today repeated the claim we asked about yesterday at the press briefing that Jim Owens, the CEO of Caterpillar, Inc., "said that if Congress passes our plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off."
Caterpillar announced 22,000 layoffs last month.
But after the president left the event, Owens said the exact opposite.
Asked if the stimulus package would be able to stop the 22,000 layoffs or not, Owens said, "I think realistically no. The truth is we're going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again"
"It is going to take some time before that stimulus bill" means re-hiring, he said.
Indeed, we all know how that stimulus bill worked out. A big, fat failure. Unemployment has been even worse than what Obama predicted it would be without passing the bill.
Well, he did it again. This time, it was here in Ohio. Last week, he came to our great state to visit a Chrysler plant in Toledo. He came to tell everyone what a success the auto bailouts were. You know, the one where he took American's tax dollars to help turn an American car company into a...foreign car company. And look at the deal we got in the process!
So, to recap, the Obama Energy Department is loaning a foreign car company $3.5 billion so that it can pay the Treasury Department $7.6 billion even though American taxpayers spent $13 billion to save an American car company that is currently only worth $5 billion.Anyway, as more "proof" of his economic genius, during his speech in Toledo, he touted how the bailing out of the plant was helping neighboring businesses to weather the financial storm and to ride the wave of Obama policy success. In particular, he mentioned a local joint called New Chet's Restaurant who was benefiting from the bailouts.
In fact, they are benefiting so well, that they're going out of business.
The owners of an Ohio restaurant touted last week by President Barack Obama as an indirect beneficiary of the government's Chrysler bailout said Thursday that tough times are putting them out of business. So, once again, Dear Liar has egg on his face. Of course, this is no surprise to those of us who knew what an anti-business radical Obama was in the first place. What did Obama voters expect would happen when they elected an community organizer to lead them out of a financial crisis? This is precisely what should have been expected. He made it worse. When it comes to the economy, everything Obama touches turns to crap.
New Chet's Restaurant in Toledo, which opened in 1973, will close Sunday.
...
"Then the economy went sour on us," said Lawrence, 82. "I never laid anybody off until three years ago."
He said his restaurant once delivered $500 worth of food per week to Chrysler Group LLC's Jeep plant in Toledo, but now that's down to about $100 worth.
