Want to do more to help elect Mitt Romney?

If so, then consider joining the Election Day Task Force. Volunteers will spend their day at a polling location and use their smartphone or tablet to check off a list of voters as they arrive to vote.

This information will be sent to headquarters and give them real-time information on what is happening and enable them to get out the vote. I am using a vacation day to take the day off for this effort, and I hope many of our readers can do the same.

Sign up to volunteer here. At the bottom of the form where it asks "Where did you hear about our election day project?", go ahead and answer "Third Base Politics".

We need people at as many precincts around Ohio as possible. Let's get this done.

  1. I'll say you'll need as many people as possible. As of today the President has a 4.1 average spread in Ohio. Even your beloved Fox News has the President 7 points ahead in Ohio. You kids have your work cut out for you. You might want to take another vacation day on November 7th to recover.

  2. I'm signed up, have done my first online training and so is my husband. Taking part in the process is a great honor, then I'll be ready for some R&R 2012 :)

  3. An attempt to suppress opposition votes - how un-American can you get?

    1. Jeanne,

please explain where the vote suppression is here. I'd love to hear how getting MORE people out to vote is "vote suppression".

    2. You get MORE people to vote by being at the polling center the day of voting to track who votes?
Wait until election day, stand at polling place, ask a person's name and check them off some list?
Yep, talking to people who are already voting is a GREAT way to increase voter turn out.

I'd LOVE to hear how that works Nick.

    4. Not sure why you'd call yourself an idiot, but would love to hear you 'school me' on this.

Apparently somebody here has never heard of "poll flushing". Both sides to do to get out the vote.

The Romney and Obama campaigns have been working all year to identify lists of voters who support them. But not all voters vote as reliably as others. The key to winning is to make sure as many of those people as possible actually vote.

So, on election day, you check off your list who has voted. As they day wears on, you start contacting the people who have not yet voted, and remind them to go vote.

It's nothing new. It's GOTV 101. And yes, it works to get your people out to vote. Maybe you should learn about things before shooting your idiot mouth off about something you obviously know nothing about.
