Cuyahoga lowers expections again...

Things just went from bad to worse for Democrats.

Earlier, we highlighted the low voter turnout in Cuyahoga County. Things were far below expectations with only 430,000 total voters expected.

Well, Cuyahoga County Board of Elections officials just lowered expectations again.
The director of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections has lowered her expectations for voter turnout in the county for this midterm election.

Director Jane Platten said that based on the number of votes cast by 2 p.m., she only expects closer to 410,000 ballots by the time the polls close at 7:30 p.m. Earlier, she predicted more than 430,000 of the county's 978,268 registered voters would turn out.

But by 2 p.m. today, only 10.5 percent of the voters had been heard from. Between 42 and 44 percent of the 205,000 absentee ballots had been returned
Only 44% returned their absentee ballots? Goodness gracious. Apparently ODP Chairman Redfern's GOTV machine isn't quite what he brags about.

I'm reminded of something I wrote way back in September of this year in a post highlighting the massive challenge facing Ted Strickland in the fallout from the DiMora/Russo scandals.
...we can't overstate the importance of these scandals in Cuyahoga County. Not only has their GOTV machine been heavily damaged on their home turf, but residents of Cuyahoga County have become even more turned off by politics and the corruption of the left. Sure, some may not vote for Kasich, but they'll be hard pressed to pull the lever for Strickland.
Told ya.

  1. Most of those unreturned are... independent voters. Democratic return rate is 85%.
