The Plain Dealer and Cincinnati Enquirer disappoint me.

Both the Plain Dealer and Cincy Enquirer should be ashamed.

Once again they've bought into a desperate non-controversy that has lefty blogs and the Ohio Democratic Party foaming at the mouth. What's it about? Whether Rob Portman is a birther because he didn't interrupt two state representatives in the middle of their speeches during a Lincoln Day Dinner because they made bad, overdone jokes about Obama and his birth certificate.

Seriously.

Now think for a moment why the Ohio Democrats would act so desperately to bring up such a non-issue. Because their health care bill is totally and completely unpopular? Because unemployment is through the roof? Because the stimulus has been a total and complete failure?

Yes, yes, and yes.

It's called deflection, PD and Enquirer. And you bought into it hook, line, and sinker.

So, why do these papers propagate the story? Because they need hits on their website. Hits mean revenue. And after a year of so-called "controversial" stories like this one, they hope that revenue ads up.

So, while the Plain Dealer and Cincy Enquirer harass the Portman campaign asking for a comment about this non-issue, I'd like to issue them both a challenge.

Call up the Fisher and Brunner campaigns. Ask them this question:
Does the candidate agree with their wannabe future boss, Majority Leader Harry Reid, and his comment that losing 34,000 jobs is "really good"?
It's timely. It's a controversial statement from a major national leader. It addresses an issue important to Ohio voters. And most importantly to your editors, the answer will drive hits to your website.
