Brunner ignored by Obama. Obama ignored by Fisher.

The NRSC sent out a press release yesterday that annihalates Jennifer Brunner and Lee Fisher:

For those of you who are following the Ohio Senate race and the President’s mysterious decision to omit the Democrat Senate candidates from his long list of introductory acknowledgements earlier today, there’s another development… Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner says she WAS there.

Evidently, the President just decided not to acknowledge Brunner, who currently serves as one of five non-judicial statewide elected Democrats in Ohio.

That’s right… the President took time to acknowledge Ohio’s Democrat Governor, Senator, and Congressional delegation during his remarks – but he didn’t think to acknowledge Ohio’s female statewide elected Secretary of State and Democrat Senate candidate, Jennifer Brunner?

This snub from the President comes on the heels of the DSCC’s recent poll – which didn’t even bother to mention Brunner. I would also remind you that the DSCC’s backing of Fisher over Brunner in the primary has caused a great deal of consternation among the Democrat base.

It’s difficult to believe that the President’s omission today was an oversight. If there was any further evidence needed to demonstrate that the Washington Democrat establishment has written off Brunner entirely, we need not look any further than the President’s decision to snub her during his visit to Ohio today.

A few questions:

Now that we know where Brunner was – and we know that she was together with her Democrat opponent earlier in the day less than 15 miles away – where was Fisher during Obama’s town hall meeting this afternoon?

Did Fisher skip Obama’s event because of the President’s low poll numbers and growing disapproval? Did he skip it because of the backlash – particularly among independents – against the Democrats’ health care bill.

Did the President purposefully snub Jennifer Brunner on advice from his political advisors?

A couple more questions from me... how does this diss by the One True Leader make the Brunner-loving progressives feel? Do they feel betrayed? As the NRSC states, this could not have been simply an oversight. Presidential events are way too highly coordinated for that to happen.

Now I wish the media would ask why Fisher didn't find it necessary to drive 15 minutes to rally with the President. Are the poll numbers that frightening?
