Yet another "I told ya so" on Obamacare...

Just as Republicans predicted, it looks like major companies would rather take the fine than pay higher costs just so their employees can maintain their health coverage under Obamacare.
The great mystery surrounding the historic health care bill is how the corporations that provide coverage for most Americans — coverage they know and prize — will react to the new law’s radically different regime of subsidies, penalties, and taxes. Now, we’re getting a remarkable inside look at the options AT&T, Deere, and other big companies are weighing to deal with the new legislation.

Internal documents recently reviewed by Fortune, originally requested by Congress, show what the bill’s critics predicted, and what its champions dreaded: many large companies are examining a course that was heretofore unthinkable, dumping the health care coverage they provide to their workers in exchange for paying penalty fees to the government.
Remember, Democrats now 100% own the health care issue from now into the future. Whatever happens to each voter's plan will be blamed on Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and their underlings.

So, when thousands upon thousands of employees are cut off from the coverage they love and are forced to go on Obamacare, you can imagine how well that will go over when it comes time to vote.

  2. Who could have guessed? Increase demand with a mandate, raise taxes on employers and establish a taxpayer-funded subsidy for people who don't get insurance at work.

Hmm. I guess everybody could have guessed. Kind of makes you wonder if this isn't exactly what they had in mind?

  3. Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill Obama signed into law Tuesday...

Full protection for children would not come until 2014, said Kate Cyrul, a spokeswoman for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, another panel that authored the legislation. That's the same year when insurance companies could no longer deny coverage to any person on account of health problems.

  4. In their continued refusal that elections have consequences, Ohio Democrats have been engaged in abuse of Ohio's referendum system all year. First, they teamed up with unions and spent tens of millions convincing Ohio voters that it was better to lay off public workers than to ask them to chip in a bit more towards their own benefits.

  6. Let me also add, Romney’s bad decision making continues…Romney has proposed allowing Health Savings Accounts to pay for traditional health insurance. This is the opposite of what the health care market needs. We need more people watching their bills, shopping around, and less time spent by doctors filling out insurance paperwork

  7. Mike Whalen, CEO of Heart of America Group, which runs hotels and restaurants, said that when he asked his company’s health insurance experts to summarize the impact of Obamacare, “the three of them kind of looked at each other and said, ‘We’ve gone to seminar after seminar, and, Mike, we can’t tell you.’ I think that just kind of sums up the uncertainty.”
