Kasich & Huckabee

Tomorrow, John Kasich and Mike Huckabee are co-hosting an online town hall.

Kasich is the latest in a long line of candidates of whom Huckabee has loaned his conservative star power.

But, that doesn't come without some minor concerns.

On twitter, blogs, and facebook, some Kasich supporters have shown their unhappiness with the partnership.

During the 2008 campaign, as Huckabee become a viable contender for the GOP presidential nomination, he faced a flurry of criticism from fiscal conservatives that questioned the former Arkansas Governor's record of restraining the growth of government and the so-called 'nanny state'.

Those accusations aren't completely without merit, but if you're going to make the effort to make those criticisms, you have to take the Governor's entire record into consideration....namely adding 110,000 jobs, helping the youth population grow, and decreasing unemployment.

But this endorsement isn't about Huckabee's record as Governor or his campaign for President, it's about electing John Kasich Governor in the state of Ohio.

Without question, Huckabee wields considerable force with such grassroots powerhouses like Huck's Army, and similar Huckabee-centric organizations. Upon Huckabee's recent endorsement, a quick search of twitter showed a surge in the Huckabee Nation already coming to bat to support Kasich.

At the end of the day, this means increased financial and grassroots support for Kasich as he continues his campaign for Governor. But will Huck's endorsement frustrate some fiscal conservatives? Sure. Will it be enough to keep them away from the polls? Hell no.

If anyone is frustrated at what has been going on at the statehouse, it's fiscal conservatives. They recognize a Kasich Administration is the best hope they've had in years to return fiscal discipline to Ohio.

And they won't miss their chance.

  1. Very well stated! Who are we going to see come in for Ted? Will Jimmy Hoffa finally emerge from the dead?
